Liposuction
Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty and liposculpture, is one of the most in-demand cosmetic surgery procedures today. Its popularity stems from its ability to directly attack fatty deposits that have resisted diet and exercise. Many Joliet and Naperville cosmetic surgery patients (men and women) find that liposuction finally frees them from those stubborn bulges around the hips, thighs, stomach, knees or even face and neck that have bothered them for years.

Is Liposuction for Me?
You may be a good candidate if:- You are at or near your normal weight
- You have pockets of fat that just won't budge
- Your skin tone is relatively good
- Your expect results that are targeted and reasonable
The concept is simple. A physician uses a cannula, or tube, to "vacuum" out the fat cells and reshape the target area. After years of frowning at them in the mirror, saddlebags or love handles are gone. One caution: liposuction is not a useful treatment for obesity. But people who lose weight successfully may find liposuction to be a very effective way to deal with fatty areas that continue to hang on after weight loss.
Should you and Dr. Rios decide that liposuction is a good choice for you, your initial reaction to your newly-contoured body could very well be, "Why didn't I decide to do this sooner?" If you have the feeling this will be the case for you, why not call for your free consultation and start the process now?

Liposuction in Joliet and Naperville
A plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Rios uses proven techniques to ensure your liposuction procedure yields a great result. Prior to surgery, he injects a sterile solution containing adrenaline and a local anesthetic into the target area. The solution is multi-purpose in nature: adrenaline helps limit blood loss, anesthetic helps control discomfort after the procedure and the fluid itself helps minimize bleeding and bruising.
Dr. Rios often uses an ultrasound device to aim sound waves at fat cells in areas of fibrous tissue. This technique, ultrasound-assisted liposuction, is particularly effective for repeat liposuction procedures.
Dr. Rios chooses to use general anesthesia for his Frankfort, Joliet and Naperville cosmetic surgery patients' ultimate comfort during the procedure.
Liposuction Recovery and Risks
After your liposuction procedure, Dr. Rios will fit you with a compression garment to wear for two weeks (except to shower) and at night during weeks three and four. The garment is comfortable and will help keep swelling under control.
You can expect to be sore for several days to a week following liposuction. If your work involves light activity, you can plan to return to it in just a few days.
The body's healing processes are complex, and each person is unique. The extent to which conditions such as inflammation, excessive scarring and limited skin retraction may affect you can't be easily predicted. Dr. Rios will discuss all these possibilities, as well as more serious medical conditions which happen in a fraction of cases, with you during your consultations with him.
